Starting at Shepherdswell Pre-school
the first days
We want your child to feel happy and safe with us. To make sure that this is the case, the staff will work with you to decide on how to help your child to settle into the pre-school. Before they start we ask you to attend with them for a stay & play session to help them familiarise themselves with the staff and environment and when they start, children should attend for a minimum of 2 sessions a week which we find helps them to settle quicker as there is not a long gap between attending.
clothing
We provide protective clothing for the children when they play with messy activities. We encourage children to gain the skills that help them to be independent and look after themselves. These include taking themselves to the toilet and taking off - and putting on - outdoor clothes. Clothing that is easy for them to manage will help them to do this.
Please provide children with a full change of clothes in a named bag and ensure children wear suitable footwear at all times i.e. No flip-flops. Coats must be brought in the winter months and sunhats in the summer. It is imperative that all items of clothing are named. Sun cream must be applied by the parents/carers prior to pre-school in hot weather.
We hope that you and your child enjoy being members of Shepherdswell Preschool and that you both find taking part in our activities interesting and stimulating. The staff are always ready and willing to talk with you about your ideas, views or questions.
